“It’s really striking how we seem to be stuck in a place we can’t get out of.”
StageW™ believes everyone wants and needs the satisfaction that comes from working. Whether living in poverty with few job prospects; unemployed following a corporate downsizing; cut as an aging professional athlete or; searching for a new career after the only job you’ve ever known was replaced with technology or moved offshore, everyone wants the feeling of fulfillment, gratification, contentment, stability, security and pride that comes from working. StageW wants to get Wisconsin working.
On March 9, 2016 the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported another “…subpar employment report…” Dale Knapp, the research director at the nonpartisan economic research group Wisconsin Taxpayers Alliance was quoted as saying, “It’s really striking how we seem to be stuck in a place we can’t get out of.” Data released at the time of this article by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, rated Wisconsin 36th among the 50 states in the pace of job creation in the latest 12-month period. The article states that these findings come from the “…most and reliable employment data gathered by the government.” Read the entire article here.
If this was just a statistics lesson we know there are lots of ways to massage Wisconsin’s dismal performance creating jobs to suggest our state is alive and doing well. But, this isn’t a statistics lesson, is it? This is about people and their lives in our state. Statistics don’t bring fulfillment, stability or pride for those who are jobless and/or without good prospects. Statistics are what talking heads use to tell you, “Your life in Wisconsin ain’t that bad. Hey, 36th ain’t last – things could be worse. So, muster it up and go get a job. Or, is it that you really don’t want to work?”
This is reality for so many people living in Wisconsin and they’re scared. StageW wants this to change and finds being “stuck” intolerable. That’s why we’ve developed plans that leverage Wisconsin’s strengths to bring WisconsinAlive™ with job creation. We call our plan W-Alive™. Check it out here – stagew.org/about-us/jobs-plan/.
We think it’s possible to make Wisconsin a global leader. We think it’s possible to bring people back to our rural communities. We think it’s possible for families living in poverty to move on to productive lives. And, we’re backing it up with innovative plans we think will make it happen. What do you think? Help us by sharing your voice and together we’ll “unstick” Wisconsin.
StageW does this because, “People are our special interest™.”
